Three nights I have spent here. It is hard to believe that my parents, myself and Emily all shared this space for the first twelve years of my life. As it is, with just myself, there is hardly room for my books! I got a visit from a neighbor today. An old friend of mine and Emily’s, Mindy! It has been 14 years since I have seen her, but she somehow looks the same. Certainly aged to a woman and now she goes by Melinda. She has lived in the same house, just a ten minute walk through the woods, for all of these years! She is engaged to a boy, man, we went to school with all those years ago. The flood of memories I am having now. The adventures (and misadventures!) the three of us had… She’s seen them. I didn’t bring it up today. Too soon. But I will. Her mother has invited me for tea. They are thrilled to have me back in the woods with them.
